What Is Glamping?
At Timberline Glamping, We believe that luxury and comfort should not be sacrificed when spending time outside.
You will have a very comfortable bed with proper linens.
You will have places to sit, places to eat, and places to charge your phone.
You will still be able to wake up and have a fresh cup of coffee from a Keurig Coffee Maker.
We do provide heaters in the winter and air conditioners in the summer, but remember this is a tent with a canvas exterior. The heating and cooling will be just enough to take the edge off, but will not have the same affect of a home.
Most Importantly, you will have a chance to re-imagine the world around you as you make special memories with family and friends.

So, you’re ready to buy your first home? That’s exciting! Whether you’ve been saving for years or just decided it’s time to settle down, becoming a homeowner is a big milestone—and in Calhoun County, it’s also a smart move.
From Anniston to Oxford, Jacksonville to Ohatchee, our corner of Alabama has something for everyone: small-town charm, affordable living, and plenty of opportunities to grow roots. Here are a few tips to make the journey a little smoother:
1. Know Your Budget
Before you fall in love with a house on Zillow, talk with a local lender about pre-approval. This will give you a clear idea of what you can actually afford—and trust me, it helps when you’re ready to make an offer. The good news? Homes here are often more affordable than in bigger cities.
2. Check Out Loan Programs
Did you know you might not even need a big down payment? FHA, USDA, and VA loans are great options for first-time buyers. In fact, a lot of Calhoun County qualifies for zero down USDA loans—a huge help when you’re just starting out.
3. Pick the Right Spot
Think about your lifestyle.
Love being close to Jacksonville State University? Jacksonville is buzzing with energy.
Need quick I-20 access? Oxford or Anniston make commutes easy.
Craving a quieter pace? Weaver, Piedmont, or Ohatchee could be your perfect match.
4. Don’t Forget the Extras
When you’re figuring out your monthly budget, remember to factor in taxes, insurance, and maybe even HOA fees. The bright side? Property taxes in Calhoun County are lower than the national average.
5. Team Up with a Local Realtor, like ME! Born and Raised in Calhoun County, AL
The home-buying process can feel overwhelming, but a local agent will guide you through the inspections, negotiations, and paperwork. Plus, we know the ins and outs of this market—it’s what we do every day.
6. Learn as You Go
A lot of first-time buyer programs offer short classes that not only teach you the ropes but can also qualify you for extra perks like down payment assistance. Definitely worth looking into.
7. Think About the Future
This isn’t just about buying four walls and a roof. You’re investing in your future. With steady growth in our area (thanks to JSU students, military families, and new businesses), buying in Calhoun County is a move you’ll thank yourself for later.
Bottom Line
Buying your first home is a big step—but in Calhoun County, it’s also an exciting one. Affordable housing, friendly communities, and a little southern charm make this a wonderful place to start your journey as a homeowner.
Pumpkin Season at Bennett Farms 2025
Every October, Bennett Farms comes alive with the colors, flavors, and traditions of fall — and for me, it’s extra special. I went to Jacksonville State University with the owners of Bennett Farms, so getting to share what they’ve built over the years feels like bragging on family. Their farm isn’t just about pumpkins (though they have plenty of those!) — it’s about creating memories that last a lifetime.
🍂 Pumpkin Pickin’
Sure, you can grab a pumpkin at the store, but there’s nothing like walking through a real patch, wheelbarrow in tow, and picking the perfect one yourself. From $3 pie pumpkins to massive Atlantic Giants around $24, there’s something for every porch, table, and jack-o’-lantern project. Carving pumpkins run $8–$12 depending on size, and you’ll also find plenty of decorative pumpkins and gourds for those of us who love a good fall display.
🍔 The Kitchen
Fall fun makes you hungry, and Bennett Farms doesn’t disappoint. They’ve got all the classics — hamburgers, hotdogs, corndogs, pork rinds, teacakes, apple pies, chips, and all the drinks you could want. And if you go on the weekend? You’re in for a treat with ribs, pulled pork, and brisket hot off the grill. Grab a plate, find a picnic spot, and soak up the farm atmosphere.
🛍 The Country Store
I love wandering through the Country Store almost as much as the pumpkin patch. It’s filled with handmade goods from local vendors — soaps, pottery, iron works, succulents, tasty treats, and more. Plus, they’ve got fun farm merch like t-shirts, cups, and ornaments to remember your visit.
✨ Why It Matters
Bennett Farms is a fourth-generation family farm, and you can feel the heart they’ve poured into making it a place where families come together. It’s not just about pumpkins — it’s about the joy of the season, the laughter of kids running through the patch, and the memories you’ll carry home with your pumpkins (and maybe a few extra goodies).
So this October, make the trip out to Bennett Farms. Bring your family, your appetite, and maybe a camera too — because trust me, you’ll want to remember it.

Alpha Omicron Pi—Delta Epsilon Chapter: Where Ambition Meets Heart
Proud Alumni of Alpha Omicron Pi’s Delta Epsilon chapter at JSU—a place devoted to “Inspire Ambition”:
Their symbol is the sheaf of wheat, and they’re represented by the panda, with the ruby as their jewel and the elegant jaqueminot rose as their flower.
Founded nationally in 1897, AOII’s principal philanthropy is arthritis research—a cause close to their hearts and a powerful way to serve beyond campus.
